Helping Create is Amazing
Every day our team at House Fabric helps customers from all over the world with selecting beautiful fabric for their amazing projects. We find it very rewarding to help someone who is creating with fabric. We are honored to serve our customers in this way. But we also do this work to provide for our families, to support our community, and to give glory to God.
Why would we talk about God in our House Fabric blog?
Well, because we believe God is our creator and everything we create comes from his materials. It reminds me of a story I once heard. If anyone knows who originally shared this story, please let me know so we can give credit to the writer. It goes something like this: One day, man bragged that he could create better than God and wanted to prove it. God agreed to have a contest. Man wanted to set all the contest rules. God allowed for that. God asked Man to agree to one thing: that God's creation would be fully God's, and that man's creation would be fully his. Man agreed. So the day of the contest came and man wanted to countdown to start. God smiled. Man said, "Three, two, one, go!" God reached down for some dirt. Man reached down for some dirt, too. God called a stop to the contest. Man was upset. What was wrong? God said, "You cannot use that dirt. It is my creation."
If we acknowledge God as creator of all things, we begin to see everything we have been given as a gift. But his biggest gift to us was sending his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, for our salvation. He triumphed over death through his resurrection, which gives us eternal life. "And this is the testimony that God has given to us eternal life. And this life is in his Son." (1 John 11)
As we prepare to celebrate Easter Sunday, the day when Jesus Christ rose from the dead, let us all remember why we do what we do and who we have to thank for all the gifts we receive every single day.
